These games often focus on one character or a small group of characters. The first role-playing game was called a board game. It is done through discussion rather than through the physical execution of the actions of the characters, as in role-playing games (LARP).

An MMORPG is an online role-playing game. These are online multiplayer games that can support hundreds or thousands of players on a single server. They allow players to compete together or against each other in an online world.
